These are set automatically, are required for the site to work, and cannot be turned off. Under the UK's Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent, which is why this site shows a short notice rather than asking you to accept or reject.

Analytics

We use Microsoft Application Insights to monitor whether the website is working — for example page requests, response times and errors. It runs entirely on our server. It places no cookies on your device, and there is no analytics or tracking code running in your browser.

This monitoring records technical information sent with every web request, such as the requested page, your browser type and your IP address. We use it to keep the site available and correct, not to build a profile of you or to advertise to you. Our Privacy Policy explains the lawful basis for this.

Local storage

When you dismiss the cookie notice, we record that in your browser's local storage so the notice does not reappear on every page. This is not a cookie, it is never sent to our server, and it holds no information about you.

How long do cookies last?

All of the cookies above are session cookies — they expire when you close your browser. The local storage entry recording that you dismissed the notice persists until you clear it.
